The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager, we are seeking a self-motivated and experienced Project Manager capable of managing a team of employees and subcontractors to safely and profitably deliver complex civil and landscape projects across Victoria (primarily within the Melbourne metropolitan area).
Key responsibilities include:
- Overall commercial and financial responsibility for projects under your control
- Ensuring all activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with ACE’s accredited OHS, Environmental and Quality management systems
- Managing internal and external resources on each project to ensure completion of works on time and within budget
- Managing project programs, tracking and updating as required to ensure our contract position is protected
- Close financial management of project budgets including monthly forecasting and reporting to senior management
- Assisting the estimating team with preparation of tender submissions and providing technical advice and methodologies where required
- Liaison with client and coordination with other trades on site, fostering good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Implementing onsite safety and quality inspections
- Managing the implementation of environmental controls
- Producing construction estimates or variation claims based on sound first principle concepts
- Contract administration including preparation of Notices of Delay, Extensions of Time and variation claims
- Tracking and analysing production rates and performance metrics for continuous improvement
To be considered for this role you will need to have the following:
At least 10 years’ experience in senior roles in civil landscaping or other closely aligned discipline to the commercial civil / landscape sector, working in both head contract and subcontract roles. An engineering qualification or background would be an advantage.
Furthermore, you will have:
- Experience in construction of large scale commercial hard and soft landscaping projects
- Experience leading a team, including on-site employees and subcontractors
- Project management & supervision experience
- Experience in compliance to HSEQ docs
- Sound knowledge of industry practices and standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Time management skills and ability to work to deadlines
- A proactive and creative approach to problem-solving and generating innovative solutions
- Desire to continuously improve, and document lessons learned on difficult projects
