Project Manager - Landscape Construction

Ausland is a successful project management company in landscape construction and maintenance, operating since 1996 currently maintaining in the region of 100 contracts across Melbourne. Auslandis the preferred landscaping partner of leading landscape architects, property developers, and local councils across Melbourne.

Ausland works with landscape architects, property developers, and local councils to deliver projects of all sizes and complexities. We have the experience, resources, and capabilities to manage projects of all sizes and complexities. We currently complete approximately 80 projects annually including large-scale parklands and streetscape projects, as well as residential frontages, which are delivered through our innovative Front of Lot installation service. We also offer tailored maintenance programs.

Role Overview:

1. Maintain the daily performance goals by effective leadership of workers and subcontractors
2. Bring your allocated construction projects to practical completion on time, on budgeted hours and with client-satisfying quality
3. Communicate required resources clearly and daily (materials, plant & equipment, staff, contractors and maintenance division)
4. Validate work performed by construction workers, Trades Assistants and Apprentices
5. Order materials and contractors in a timely fashion to not cause project delays and ensure that each delivery of goods is being physically checked for quality and quantity
6. Manage, locate, evaluate & select sub-contractors, conducting inspections at critical phase and liaise with management regarding the progress of the project
7. Complete progress reports as per schedule or as directed
8. Works with integrity and ethics, keeps commitments and treats people with respect 
9. Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards
10. Ensure that the site is secured and safe at the completion of each workday
11. Ensure the correct licenses are held for each person on site who is operating equipment that needs a license
12. Ensure that equipment used on site is in a safe operating condition and all checks have been done including your vehicle 
13. Knows the site safety plan, SMP and ensures everyone’s following it
14. Ensure accurate records are kept of who is present on the site
15. Provide appropriate site training to all employees, apprentices, contractors and visitors paying specific attention to young and /or inexperienced workers
16. Ensure contractors follow site rules and have appropriate Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for high-risk construction work, suitable for the site
17. Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn as required by WHS legislation, industry standards and company policies
18. Conduct regular Risk and hazard inspections, fix hazards or, if you can't, promptly raise the issue to the next level 
19. Ensures that all other Safe Workplace Procedures, TMPs and related company policies are followed at all times
20. Any other job-related tasks as directed by management 

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

1. Trade qualification, degree or relevant experience
2. Project Management qualification (desired)
3. Previous Project Manager (at least 3 years) experience in commercial landscaping or similar
4. Competent in interpreting drawings, specifications and contracts
5. Strong construction knowledge base over a number of trades
6. Strong understand of contracts and budgets
7. To be conversant with Quality, Environment, Safety Management Systems
8. Advanced knowledge of common software solutions (Microsoft) and relevant apps
9. Communicates clearly, professionally and confident in written and oral forms to both internal and external clients at all levels
