Job description

Build a better future. Where NSW meets the world.

The world’s always evolving and so are we.

We’re proud of our rich heritage and how far we’ve travelled to where we are today. That journey continues.

To face the challenges of the future, we’re building a team that brings together truly diverse knowledge and skills. One that wins by combining deep industry expertise and connection, with fresh ideas and experience.

So, if you care about helping Australia and its people prosper…

If you’re a challenge seeker who loves variety and solving problems, and with a passion for sustainability…

And if you want to help us shape our culture and our impact…

Well, this is the place. And now’s the time.

Your opportunity

Reporting to Shore Power Senior Project Manager, you will be part of a team delivering Port Authority’s Shore Power installation projects across Port Authority sites in Sydney.

As a Project Manager and under the Senior Project Manager’s guidance, you also will be given opportunities to lead and manage projects related to sustainability initiatives to support the achievement of Port Authority of New South Wales Net Zero targets.

Here’s how your impact will truly count:

  • Assist the Shore Power Senior Project Manager in coordinating and overseeing project tasks related to electrical network infrastructure and Shore Power delivery, including liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and managing external contractors, ensuring that milestones, cost and quality objectives are met.
  • Manage Port Authority’s sustainability projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget and quality standards.
  • Using your technical expertise, provide expert engineering advice and solutions on diverse technical subject matters.
  • Manage and review project documentation, including drawings, technical specifications and project reports and registers.
  • Facilitate tendering processes including liaising with key stakeholders and providing accurate, comprehensive briefs, participating in panels and evaluating submissions.
  • Lead effective contract management with suppliers to ensure delivery of quality and cost-effective services and outcomes.
  • Provide robust and flexible program and project planning, including establishing and communicating timelines, key milestones, budgets and resource requirements, to drive integrated outcomes.
  • Assist the Shore Power Senior Project Manager to engage key stakeholders including community, landowners and other government organisations to identify and manage expectations consistent with program and project objectives.
  • Identify and provide input to the assessment of environmental impacts and potential mitigations for proposed developments.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies, proactively identifying, monitoring, communicating and minimising risks.
  • Champion best practice project management methodology and intellectual capital to facilitate continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline e.g., Engineering with Project Management experience.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence
  • Experience managing and delivering projects specifically relating to electrical equipment installation and infrastructure upgrade, and/or sustainability initiatives.

We’d also love you to have:

  • Experience in managing multiple, interrelated projects, including electrical infrastructure construction, real estate, port development or sustainability projects, to achieve integrated organisation outcomes.
  • Contract management including negotiation, monitoring progress and performance.
  • Financial skills to monitor and manage project and program budgets.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to adapt presentation style to different audiences and communication channels.

What matters most is that you’re a team player, who brings drive and determination to this important role. You’ll also feel aligned with our values and reflect them in the incredible work you produce.

Why join Port Authority of New South Wales?

At Port Authority, you’ll find a unique opportunity to build a rich and impactful career, in an organisation where the public interest meets commercial agility.

We think you’ll love the impact you can have with us, but don’t just take our word for it! You can meet our team and read their stories on our website.

You’ll also enjoy a range of benefits including:

  • Excellent salary packaging options and salary continuance insurance.
  • Ongoing support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Rewards for your hard work through service awards and recognition.
  • 5 days paid leave for IVF treatment, as well as 14 weeks parental leave for either parent + 2 additional weeks.
