DHA manages one of Australia’s largest national housing portfolios of about 17,000 properties and has an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join the team.
Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is offering 2 (two) full time opportunities for an experienced Project Manager, specialising in Upgrades, to join their team. The successful candidate will be a customer focussed professional with excellent stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
About the role
In this role you will manage a number of residential construction and heritage upgrade projects in Sydney (and locations around Australia), required for Defence provisioning. You will use your communication and stakeholder management skills to work with a range of teams to effectively manage upgrade projects. More specifically, day to day you will:
- Effectively run construction projects in their entirety, from planning to delivery and report to the Upgrades Manager.
- Utilise your existing experience in construction upgrade and project management skills across the private or public sector.
- Ensure scope and works are being completed in accordance with the relevant Australian National Construction Code.
- Manage the projects forecast, budget requirements, understand key deliverables and timeframes, within policy and in consultation with your colleagues.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation, promoting the agency’s business objectives through key relationships.
- Provide a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Maintain high quality and up to date project records and files, track financial activities and approvals.
Skills you will need to succeed in the role:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a residential construction environment (carpentry/building) and/or other relevant trade or tertiary qualifications in the industry.
- Confident decision-making ability, using sound judgement based on experience and knowledge.
- A clear understanding of work health and safety requirements and its application to the role.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders (both verbally and written).
- Strong ability to manage priorities, organise workloads and meet challenging deadlines under limited direction.
- Proven experience using a range of database and workflow management systems and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (preferably including the use of Microsoft Project).
You will stand out if you have:
- Experience working on construction upgrade projects, including Commonwealth, National or State listed Heritage projects.
