Identified in the state's Navigating our Port Futures strategy, the Port of Hastings is the preferred hub for offshore wind power projects. The government is investing early in its redevelopment to support this sector. The development will undergo an Environment Effects Statement, recognising the port's Ramsar-listed wetland status, which is central to this new role.
The Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal (VRET) is a proposed assembly port for offshore wind components in Victoria. The Port of Hastings, specifically the 25-hectare Old Tyabb Reclamation Area, has been chosen for the terminal. This Crown Land, managed by the Port of Hastings Corporation and reserved for port purposes, is crucial for assembling and delivering offshore wind infrastructure.
The Role
The Project Scheduler is a crucial position for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects at the Port of Hastings. This role involves establishing and maintaining project schedules, providing contract administration support, and developing project control processes and tools to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery. The Project Scheduler will work with project teams, stakeholders, and management to ensure accurate reporting, risk management, and decision-making.
Key Roles And Responsibilities
- Create and update the master schedule for the VRET project.
- Evaluate schedules from contractors and consultants to ensure alignment with project deadlines.
- Help establish and manage the project budget and cost control system.
- Monitor project milestones and deliverables to meet deadlines and budget limits.
- Process invoices, verify cost codes, reconcile invoices, and record actuals and accruals.
- Ensure prompt handling and processing of contractor and supplier invoices.
- Supervise project office activities for new projects.
- Provide contract administration support to the project team.
Required Skills And Proficiencies
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, business, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in project controls or a similar role.
- Proficient in project management tools and software.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with industry-leading practices in project controls.
- Strong understanding of project management and control principles.
- Experience with Microsoft Project (mandatory) and Primavera P6 (preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in cost control and issue tracking.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
