About your new branch
Transport and Traffic is responsible for the planning, operational management and delivery of enhancements to the City of Gold Coast’s transport network. With around 185 staff across four units, the branch oversees an annual budget in excess of $186 million (2022-23) to deliver capital works, supporting operational projects and planning initiatives.
Transport and Traffic works under the strategic intent of the City’s Council Plan and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031. This framework seeks to ensure the city has a safe and efficient transport system that is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.
The branch works closely with many delivery partners, including the City’s development and land use planning teams and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to plan and manage the transport system as 'one network'.

About your new role
As a Project Officer, you will provide valuable project and administrative support to the Transport Program Management & Delivery Unit. This position liaises directly with the Executive Coordinator, Coordinators and Project Managers within the Transport Program Management & Delivery (TPM&D) Unit, a wide range of Council personnel from within the Transport & Infrastructure Directorate as well as external service providers. This is a dynamic and diverse role and a great opportunity to be involved in some of the major road, traffic and transport infrastructure projects for our City.
What you bring to your new role
- Provide support and assistance to project managers in progressing municipal infrastructure projects through the project lifecycle and gateway process
- Assist in the production of regular financial updates and PMIS progress reports
- Create and complete project documentation including Communication Management Plans, Mayoral correspondence, briefing notes and issuing of Infrastructure Delivery documentation to construction
- Quality assistance of all outgoing correspondence
- Management and update of the TPM&D Unit document tracker
- Production of an annual project achievements artefact
- Assist with the documentation of potential project risks and effective mitigation strategies to minimise risks
- Ad-hoc creation of project documentation as required
- Build open and transparent working relationships between internal and external stakeholders, team members and customers both internal and external
What you'll bring
- You have demonstrated project support experience working in a project environment.
- Qualifications in project management would be a bonus!
- You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- You have a “can do” attitude and thrive on innovatively solving problems in a complex environment.
- You are self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- You have demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team.
