About your new branch

Transport and Traffic is responsible for the planning, operational management and delivery of enhancements to the City of Gold Coast’s transport network. With around 185 staff across four units, the branch oversees an annual budget in excess of $186 million (2022-23) to deliver capital works, supporting operational projects and planning initiatives.

Transport and Traffic works under the strategic intent of the City’s Council Plan and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031. This framework seeks to ensure the city has a safe and efficient transport system that is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.

The branch works closely with many delivery partners, including the City’s development and land use planning teams and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to plan and manage the transport system as 'one network'.

Our Mission: To plan, deliver and manage a modern local transport system that contributes to the City’s smart growth and enables residents and visitors to make sustainable travel choices and enjoy the Gold Coast lifestyle.

About your new role

As a Project Officer, you will provide valuable project and administrative support to the Transport Program Management & Delivery Unit. This position liaises directly with the Executive Coordinator, Coordinators and Project Managers within the Transport Program Management & Delivery (TPM&D) Unit, a wide range of Council personnel from within the Transport & Infrastructure Directorate as well as external service providers. • Quality assistance of all outgoing correspondence
  • Management and update of the TPM&D Unit document tracker
  • Production of an annual project achievements artefact
  • Assist with the documentation of potential project risks and effective mitigation strategies to minimise risks
  • Ad-hoc creation of project documentation as required
  • Build open and transparent working relationships between internal and external stakeholders, team members and customers both internal and external

What you'll bring

  • You have demonstrated project support experience working in a project environment.
  • Qualifications in project management would be a bonus!
  • You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • You have a “can do” attitude and thrive on innovatively solving problems in a complex environment.
  • You are self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • You have demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team.

Please note applications for all our vacancies close at 10.30 pm on the listed closing date.
