The AEC's focus is on electoral integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.The TeamThe Delivery and Support Branch leads the preparation and delivery of electoral services for the AEC. The Branch is responsible for planning future electoral events, developing and delivering key electoral capabilities and services, and managing the delivery of electoral events in line with election timetables. The branch also manages contracts and agreements with third party suppliers which are critical for the successful delivery of electoral events.The OpportunitiesSenior Project Officers within the Delivery and Support Branch are instrumental in the end-to-end delivery of federal elections, by-elections and referendums. They inform and shape electoral processes and have the opportunity to drive business improvements.Successful candidates will have the opportunity to become subject matter experts in critical election functions while growing their skills as Australian Public Service officials. They will apply and grow their strong project management skills, hone their ability apply legislation to practical challenges, strengthen their procurement and contract management expertise, foster networks across the agency and with key suppliers, and develop their ability to engage with, and brief senior managers and other key stakeholders.Elector and Roll ServicesYou will be responsible for developing and delivering key election critical capabilities and services to support voting for electoral events while managing projects and building stakeholder relationships effectively.National Event ManagementThe role is responsible for delivering priority outcomes for mobile polling policy, procedures and resources. You will be responsible for Senate solutions and counting the Senate, the use of Electronic Certified Lists (ECLs) and national processes for premises management.Centre of Event ExpertiseYou will be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to electoral event Delivery and Support. You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating working groups on operational improvements.To excel you'll have:
- Previous contract and/or project management experience, including the ability to work through complex issues, manage competing priorities, adapt and respond to changing requirements.
- Sound conceptual and analytical abilities, including the ability to interpret and apply legislative and policy frameworks.
- Confidence and ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and negotiate with team members, business areas and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- A demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and Support the AEC’s strategic direction.
- Ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner, while committing energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
- Ability to organise and lead a small team and/or coach others to deliver outcomes.
