Significant reform is underway in Queensland. The Information Privacy and Other Legislative Amendments Act 2023 (IPOLA Act) amends the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), to improve transparency and accountability of Queensland agencies and strengthen privacy protections available to individuals.
The OIC will implement the reforms and support agencies with preparation and compliance.
The Project Training Manager is critical to the successful roll out of the reforms. The role will plan, create and facilitate independent, expert training, assistance and advice to Queensland government agencies about how to interpret and administer changes arising from the IPOLA Act.
As this is a unique and significant opportunity to contribute to the success of the implementation of the IPOLA Act, we are looking for someone with:
- Extensive, proven skills in training and education, including preparation of training plans, presentations and resources, and facilitation/delivery of training.
- Exceptional coaching, influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with others, including subject matter experts.
- Enthusiasm to drive training and education across Queensland and respond to feedback to continuously improve the training services provided.
This is a temporary, 11-month full-time (flexible) opportunity.
Key responsibilities
- Develop a multi-channel program of training, guidance and assistance to support Queensland public sector entities and statutory authorities understand, interpret and implement the changes necessary to comply with the IPOLA Act.
- Prepare effective training materials including training plans, presentations, individual and group exercises, resources, training evaluations and delivery schedules.
- Liaise with subject matter experts and internal and external stakeholders in the design and development of relevant resources, and implementation of the training program.
- Facilitate training (in person and online) and provide guidance and assistance to Queensland public sector entities and statutory authorities to support their understanding of the changes which will impact rights and responsibilities under the IP Act and RTI Act from the IPOLA Act.
- Manage and supervise a Training Officer.
