Job description

The Opportunity: 

The Business Operations Branch is responsible for property, security and business continuity services. The team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their dynamic property team. 

Working within the Business Operations Branch, under general direction, you will play an important role in supporting the property team in managing your area of responsibility, as outlined in the duties below. 

You will be the lead officer responsible for providing advice and driving the property capital works program for NIAA. 

Duties you will be responsible for:

• assisting with overseeing capital works and associated contracts

• assisting with the remote property portfolio

• assist with Project management

• contribute and assist with budget management

• asset management

• contribute to Policy advice

• managing staff

• other duties as directed.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have a well-rounded knowledge of the application of the Commonwealth Property Management Framework and demonstrated delivery of property related functions in regional and remote Australia. This should include experience on lease acquisition and disposal, capital investment incorporating sound knowledge of physical security and risk management. 

We are looking for a highly experienced and self-motivated property professional who can demonstrate:

• leadership and people management experience, preferably within a government environment

• a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service

• building and maintaining effective working relationships

• well-developed written and oral communication skills

• experience in developing organisational wide frameworks, policies and procedures.

You will be calm and confident when negotiating appropriate WHS outcomes with staff and stakeholders, and apply strong analytical and problem solving skills which incorporates situational awareness and takes into account enterprise risks. 

The ideal candidate will be both autonomous and a team player, contributing toward a positive culture within the Property team. We encourage effective communication, efficient performance and support a hands-on approach so that the team can meet their required objectives and potential. The ideal candidate will require the ability to demonstrate cultural competency working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff. A strong commitment to the Agency’s Values and Behaviours and the APS Code of Conduct will also be required.

Eligibility: 

• To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen. 

• The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected) level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.  

• The successful candidate will be required to be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check
