ABOUT THE ROLE:
Patient Service Assistants (PSAs), form one of the largest staffing groups and provide services across all areas of Austin Health. PSAs work as part of a ward/department-based team, providing a range of services, such as cleaning, patient movements and other ward/department services. The cleaning and cleaning audits are a critical component of infection control and risk management in the hospital and much of this work is undertaken by PSAs. PSAs in defined work areas will work under the day to day direction of their Nurse Unit Manager/Department Head.
ABOUT YOU:
- Hold an Environmental Health Services Diploma or PSA Certificate III in Health (or equivalent)
- Hold a current food handeling certificate
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with a clear understanding of managerial responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
- Ability to problem solve in a variety of complex situations
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
- Demonstrated understanding of Department of Health cleaning and auditing standards.
- A sound understanding of information technology systems and applications relevant to the management of rostering, auditing and reporting, or as required for the role.
- Substantial experience in the provision of patient services assistant services and a sound understanding of the role of the PSA in a large health service organisation.
