The directorate has a wide range of responsibilities including representing Consumer Protection in the regions, assisting businesses and consumers to resolve disputes through conciliation, remedying improper practices that impact consumers, and managing the smooth operation of the lodging and disposal of bonds for tenants and landlords.In this role you will provide strategic direction, leadership and management to the Regional Services team who represent Consumer Protection in the regions and assist with all aspects of the activities of Consumer Protection.This role will include travel to regional locations to support the team and engage with stakeholders.Your extensive experience will assist you in providing operational advice to the team on challenging issues and personally responding to complex and sensitive regional matters which are escalated.You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills to proactively engage with community, media, industry, traders, local government and other key stakeholders in regions to represent and promote Consumer Protection.Please refer to the Job Description Form (JDF) attached for further information regarding the position, including any specific requirements, capabilities and pre-employment checks which will be assessed as part of the selection process.While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.This position is located in at 140 William Street.Further informationPlease contact Owen Kelly, Director Conciliation and Services, on (08) 6552 9380 or visit .
