About the role
This role delivers high quality evidence based clinical services and leadership for identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers requiring mental health support as part of a multidisciplinary perinatal wellbeing team. This also involves adopting a sustained cross-Government focus on strengthening cultural competence. This position also provides clinical practice and professional supervision to less experienced relevant allied health professionals to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards within the service.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated high level of contemporary discipline specific knowledge, expertise and skill utilising established principles and evidence-based practice for antenatal and postnatal women, diagnosed with a variety of complex mental illnesses and/disorders in a culturally sensitive, trauma informed framework.
- Demonstrated understanding of the social determinants of health affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and strategies to address these issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively using well developed oral and written communication skills to enable effective interaction with consumers, carers and other stakeholders in individual and group situations
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate innovative service improvement initiatives and develop and deliver local clinical education programs in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team as well as work autonomously and provide clinical supervision to less experienced practitioners and students.
