About the AFLPA
The AFL Players’ Association has a rich history and has entrenched itself as a key stakeholder in the AFL industry as the representative body for current and past AFL and AFLW player members. The AFLPA has grown in influence and size over its 50-year history to become a respected advocate of players and the game.
As part of a broad range of mental health and wellbeing services offered to its members, the AFLPA offers free, confidential and professional counselling support via its Mental Health and Wellbeing Navigation Service (Navigation Service). This dedicated member service is delivered by AHPRA registered psychologists that form the AFLPA’s National Psychologist Referral Network (Referral Network). The AFLPA’s Navigation Service is independent from wellbeing support offered by clubs, agents and/or the AFL. It also supports members’ immediate families, partners and significant others.
About the Psychologist role
Reporting to the Head of Wellbeing and Mental Health within the Member Programs and Services team, the AFLPA Psychologist works directly with members and/or club psychologists, doctors and player development managers to triage and case manage appropriate referrals for members who are seeking support for their mental health and wellbeing. The role is also responsible for proactively growing, managing, promoting and developing the AFLPA’s national Referral Network.
Success in the role will be determined through effective case management and the provision of member-centric support. Building and strengthening relationships across the AFL industry to promote awareness of the Navigation Service will be key.
Whilst this role is 0.6 - 0.8 FTE and would ideally be worked across 5 days per week (Monday - Friday), we welcome a flexible working discussion in relation to the role.
About you
You are an early career psychologist who has an APAC approved Master or Doctorate degree in Psychology and are registered (or eligible for registration) as a psychologist with AHPRA.
This role would be suitable for a Sport & Exercise Psychologist Registrar, with supervised practice available.
