About You:

The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team and provide specialist advice, assistance, and consultancy services to the Wondakka Community Rehabilitation Centre staff.

The Psychologist will conduct assessments and intervention, with consumers presenting with complex mental health conditions.  Assessments may be involve formal cognitive testing, therapy readiness assessment, DBT therapy assessments. NALHN Neuropsychologists support the Psychologist by providing specialist neuropsychological assessments from which the Psychologist can develop recommendations, interventions and plans for supporting staff in caring for consumers of the Wondakka.

Interventions involve but are not limited to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, trauma-related therapies (EMDR, CPT, PL), and Schema therapy and Narrative approaches. Group work is another primary intervention modality (e.g., Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Psychosis). 

Training and supervision in the use of a range of assessments and therapies is provided on an ongoing basis.  Targeted supervision by specialist clinicians within NALHN is available.

The Psychologist may be delegated to provide orientation, supervision and support to staff, provisional psychologists and volunteers.

The Psychologist will contribute to the development of service aims and objectives and participate in the development and maintenance of relationships with key partners in government and non-government services.

The Psychologist will contribute to research and evaluation of psychological practice and promote new information and development in the field of psychology.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Psychologist within Mental Health Services.

The Psychologist (AHP2) is operationally accountable to the Team Manager for the provision assessment and treatment services for community consumers of NALHN which aims to optimise health outcomes. The incumbent will rotate through a series of clinical services.

The Psychologist applies clinical experience, increasing clinical knowledge and professional competence to plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive and integrated services to the needs of consumers. The Psychologist works under limited direct clinical supervision and may provide direction and support to less experienced staff, allied health assistants and students.

The Psychologist works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and liaises directly with medical, nursing, allied health staff, community mental health teams, NALHN and with other private providers and community agencies.

To be eligible for this position, you must:

  • Must hold appropriate degree (Master of Clinical Psychology) or equivalent qualification recognised by the PsyBA
  • Must hold general registration with the PsyBA
