About the Role
Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Public Relations Advisor is responsible for playing a crucial role in building ST Vic’s public image, brand and reputation. This role extends beyond traditional Public Relations duties to encompass a comprehensive approach to stakeholder relationship management.
As the primary liaison between ST Vic and various stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community organisations, you will be instrumental in fostering and nurturing positive connections. Your adeptness at developing and maintaining these relationships will play a vital role in furthering our department's mission of ensuring 'safe journeys, every time.' These alliances will serve as the cornerstone of elevating ST Vic’s reputation and visibility within the community.
With a keen focus on branding, this role will also involve actively monitoring public perception and sentiment, allowing for the proactive addressing of any emerging issues to safeguard ST Vic's reputation and maintain trust among stakeholders. This position entails broader communications responsibilities, including the development of high-quality, strategic communications and engagement plans to effectively convey ST Vic’s messages and initiatives to diverse audiences.
The responsibilities of the Public Relations Advisor will include, but are not limited to:
- Build and maintain positive working relationships engaging with a diverse range of industry, government, and community stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to utilise these relationships effectively when needed.
- Build and maintain a positive public image for ST Vic, leading to increased trust and credibility among stakeholders, customers, and our communities.
- Create high-quality, strategic, proactive content, such as engagement plans and campaign strategies to enhance the reach of ST Vic.
- Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to mitigate potential issues and respond effectively when crises occur.
- Assist in activations and community engagement activities to ensure relevant stakeholders are invited. Work with the campaign team on aligning messaging and branding.
- Promote and support safe, inclusive, and flexible team operations.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in Public Relations or a similar stakeholder relations role, including Government Relations.

Qualifications
A degree in Communications, Public Relations or similar would be preferable but not mandatory.
