Newcastle Airport, the second busiest Airport in the state, is experiencing the most exciting period of its 70-year history as it grows in size, aspiration, and influence.

About the role:
As our Public Relations (PR) and Communications Officer, you'll be at the forefront of developing and executing strategic PR and communication initiatives to bolster Newcastle Airports brand reputation and achieve business targets. Collaborating closely with the Executive General Manager Marketing and Communications and the Office of the CEO, you'll drive impactful engagement across various channels, leveraging strong content to convey Newcastle Airports key messages effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication: Develop and implement proactive media and PR strategies across multiple platforms to enhance communication effectiveness and brand reputation management.
Media Coordination: Take charge of all media inquiries, conducting research and gathering information to craft timely and accurate media responses, statements, and releases.
Stakeholder Engagement Support: Assist in developing and implementing advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies and provide support to the CEO and Executive General Manager Marketing and Communications.
Crisis Management: Handle crisis and issue management effectively, maintaining the organisation's reputation and ensuring transparent communication during challenging times.
Content Creation: Research, write, and prepare applications, award submissions, and policy documents to align with Newcastle Airports strategic objectives and enhance its corporate image.
Stakeholder Relationship Management: Cultivate positive relationships with key stakeholders, maintaining a comprehensive database to support the company's growth and development.
Event Management: Manage PR-related events such as service launches and stakeholder engagements, ensuring seamless execution and maximum impact.
Government Engagement: Support the Executive General Manager and CEO in preparing government briefs, presentations, and delivery of engagement strategies to drive strategic outcomes.

About You:
Are you a dynamic communicator with a passion for shaping public perception and driving strategic engagement? We are seeking a Public Relations and Communications Officer who embodies excellence in media, communications, and stakeholder relations.
As our ideal candidate, you will possess formal tertiary qualifications in Media, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, providing you with a solid foundation for success in this role. With a minimum of three years' experience in corporate communications, you have a proven track record of managing comprehensive communications strategies and maintaining an organisation's brand reputation.
Your extensive understanding of media management, including issues handling and navigating the evolving media landscape, equips you to effectively shape our organisation's narrative. Your experience in leading the coordination and development of submissions, policy position statements, and advocacy materials demonstrates your ability to effectively promote our organisation's objectives.
With highly developed interpersonal skills, you excel in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, communities, and private sectors. You have the ability to understand the broader political, social, and organisational landscape, allowing you to offer strategic advice and remain focused on achieving tangible results.
