Public Relations Specialist
Looking to join a dynamic team of communications professionals? If you are hungry to drive best-in-class storytelling for some of Australia’s most loved consumer travel brands, this is the job for you. Working across leading travel brands Expedia, Wotif and Stayz, you’ll be tasked with developing and carrying out creative, highly engaging PR activities that resonate strongly with travellers and top tier media.
You will work closely with stakeholders within the company to tell the Expedia Brands narrative and build brand love among target audiences. You will act as an invaluable media relations advisor, contact and storyteller for the brands.In this role, you will possess a strong understanding of the consumer and travel media landscape, with key top tier media contacts. You will have a keen eye for developing stories and initiatives which will break through the noise and cement Expedia Brands as leading travel experts.
You’ll be based in Sydney, reporting to the Head of ANZ PR, Expedia Brands and work closely with the global Communications and Marketing teams, as well as local ANZ stakeholders. You will have experience in an agency and/or in-house Public Relations role as well as possess a can-do attitude, be self-driven, and able to learn quickly.
What you’ll do:
Responsible for Australian media relations across earned, owned and paid channels within PR’s remit
Own the editorial calendar and proactively identify opportunities to drive brand love through earned media and storytelling
Respond to reactive media enquiries in a timely manner
Create spokesperson briefing documents and manage/attend interviews where required
Use and analyze data and insights to inform storytelling and support business initiatives
Work with PR agency and other vendors on campaign development, media strategy and execution
Manage the development of press trips and media events
Contribute to the development of integrated communications plans, while often working closely with global PR team members, the social media team and the broader marketing and communications teams
Who you are:
2+ years of experience in agency or in-house Public Relations, and/or a strong news background; consumer, travel, or lifestyle experience a plus
Proven results working with top-tier Australian media outlets, including broadcast
Experience working in a fast-paced environment a plus
Experience in large, highly matrixed organizations a plus
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to synthesise data into logical conclusions and recommendations to uncover unique storytelling opportunities for Expedia
