The Publications Officer manages the end-to-end delivery of our specialist member magazine, and spearheads the promotion of our scientific journals, enhancing their visibility and impact in the global sports medicine scientific community.
What you'll be doing:
Reporting to the Senior Marketing and Communications Officer, the role brings your publications, social media marketing and communications experience to a membership-based organisation. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and writing content, and overseeing the publishing and delivery of SMA’s quarterly Sport Health magazine, a printed and digital publication for SMA Members.
- Driving the promotion of our scientific journals – JSAMS and JSAMS Plus – across our social channels.
- Liaising with external content contributors, editors, publishers, designers, advertisers and sponsors.
- Working with the Senior Marketing and Communications Officer on ad hoc marketing and communication campaigns.
- Other tasks as required.
Skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, social media marketing or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in marketing or communications, preferably for a membership association, not-for-profit, or peak industry organisation.
- Strong written communication skills across multiple formats, targeted to diverse audiences.
- Excellent planning, organisational and project management skills.
- Confidence in working with diverse stakeholders including senior executive staff, board directors, academics, highly qualified professionals, sponsors, advertisers, and media contacts.
- Strong relationship-building, customer service and community engagement skills.
- Proven experience with Canva, Google Analytics and Office 365..
- Photography and video-editing skills desirable.
This role is ideal for an individual who is completing, or recently completed a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, and wants hands-on experience driving communications-focused projects within a professional environment.
This is a part-time role, working three days per week with flexible working arrangements, based in Brisbane.
