Our client is a major wholesaler and distributor of aluminium, plastic and stainless steel piping systems to the construction and building industry.
Due to continued growth and demand, an opportunity has now become available for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team and be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies and policies for cost optimisation and enhancing supply chain efficiency. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and selecting Suppliers, reviewing key supplier arrangements, negotiating prices based on quality and availability of products, processing purchase orders and ensuring inventory records are accurately kept.
*This role is currently located in the Sutherland area, however the business will be relocating to Moorebank by mid 2024.

- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure materials are received on time, at an appropriate price, and to quality standards
- Review and maintain inventory levels to ensure availability of stocked items
- Process all purchase orders through NetStock
- Ensure that all inventory records are accurate including, item description, preferred supplier, stock levels
- Regularly review key suppliers’ arrangements, credit terms, applicable contracts, and current cost pricing
- Review and follow up all outstanding purchase orders and manage expected receipt dates
- Coordinate all overseas purchases and liaise with overseas suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure all documentation is correct
- Sign off on all purchase price variances on supplier invoices
- Have a contingency plan for stock outs
- Contribute to selection decisions and onboarding of new products and ranges
- Implementation of a rigid process for New Inventory Requests to ensure minimal risk of overstocking
- Manage and mentor other members of the purchasing team
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications, highly desirable
- Minimum of 5 years in a Purchasing Management role, dealing with high volume International procurement
- Demonstrated experience in logistics and freight forwarding
- High level Inventory Management experience
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Effective communication and organisational skills
- Excellent presentation and computer skills
- MUST be in Australia and have full working rights
