About the role

Reporting to the Strategic Supply Chain Manager, you will facilitate the purchasing of goods and services to ensure timely performance and compliance with company and customer requirements. This role will be a rewarding position for someone seeking a challenging opportunity within the Defence industry. 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure processes are in place to effectively manage supplier and inventory related activities, in order to minimise risk to the business in the areas of quality, on-time delivery and cost
  • Preparation and release of purchase orders in Babcock’s ERP system and/or the client’s ERP system.
  • Review and update of business processes to support continuous improvement strategies and the effectiveness of the inventory/purchasing processes.
  • Ensure processes are in place to effectively manage supplier and inventory related activities, in order to minimise risk to the business in the areas of quality, on-time delivery and cost.
  • Provide general administrative support such as processing of accounts an invoice support if required.
  • Support the on-time delivery of orders from suppliers, ensuring their performance is as per contractual requirements and benchmark standards.
  • Support the disposal for equipment and parts via the life cycle management process if required.
  • Support the adequate and appropriate supply of products and services for Operations in accordance with purchasing requests.

About you

As an experienced Purchasing Officer, you will have strong relationship management skills, with proven negotiation and influencing ability to achieve desired business outcomes. You will also be a proactive operator, capable at thinking outside the square to find innovative solutions that overcome obstacles and challenges. You will have experience in a similar role and possess the following:
 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain and/or Logistics, engineering or other applicable technical fields or suitable experience that provides similar competencies 
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Exposure to IFS or similar ERP system
  • Experience in Inventory Control and Disposals in a commercial environment
