Working at both a operational and strategic level, you are a seasoned and commercially minded professional, who is experienced in negotiation, sourcing, contract management and supplier relationship management.
Qualifications & experience
- Proven success in negotiating supplier contracts to gain the cost-effective pricing, operational efficiencies and high levels of service standards.
- Previous experience in a purchasing role, within the construction, building supply or like industry.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a procurement role or senior estimator position
- An understanding of residential construction techniques and operational management, building codes and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions under pressure and manage changing priorities.
- Proactive, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and accurate record management skills.
- Knowledge of and experience in purchasing and procurement principles, and methods including procure-to-pay processes, buying, quality assurance, contract administration and contract law.
- Ability to differentiate between grades, qualities, and varieties of construction materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to think outside the box and have an inquisitive mind.
- An energetic personality with a positive can-do attitude.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Well-developed communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
- Existing trade contacts.
- Excellent time management skills.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Source building supplies, trades and services and obtain competitive pricing and quotations for goods and services from suppliers
- Be the Lead supplier and labour negotiator and finalise supplier and labour contract agreements to achieve the best possible contractual terms.
- Work collaboratively within the business to understand procurement requirements for the Group including the development of robust sourcing and supply strategies, which caters for the full life cycle of a build including maintenance period.
- Work closely with the construction team to ensure scheduling demands demands are met.
- Evaluate claims submitted by subcontractors for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Ensuring new supplier/contractor documentation is completed correctly and uploaded to SharePoint.
- Work with managers to develop and maintain budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- General administrative duties as required.
