We have 2 x job opportunities for experienced Purchasing/Procurement Officers to work with our client, a global leader in Iron Ore based in East Perth for a 6-month assignment.

Job Opportunity 1 (Purchasing Officer):

Position Title: Purchasing Officer
Location: East Perth
Start date: ASAP
Role length: 6 months assignment
Pay rate: $45ph + Super

Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, the focus of this role is responsible for the delivery of procurement for the Customer Group in purchasing and expediting of goods and services associated with the business.

Your primary accountabilities will include:

• Purchase and expedite materials, parts, supplies, equipment and services following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizes price, delivery and terms
• Identify cost-competitive and reliable suppliers and issue requests for quotations, leveraging RFQ opportunities and supplied capabilities
• Analyse (under direction) commercial benefit initiatives in new capital, sustaining capital, maintenance programs and operational spend
• Ensure all goods and services are ordered and received according to specification
• Ensure correct costing of materials
• Ensure that Customer Group needs are consistently met in regards to the provision of purchasing services

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

• SAP experience is a must
• Relevant experience in a similar commercial purchasing/buyer role, ideally within mining and resources
• Demonstrates sound understanding of materials and inventory management and services buying including commercial and legal terms
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound knowledge in purchase to pay and logistics processes and experience in the supply of both goods and services

Job Opportunity 2 (Procurement Officer):

Position Title: Procurement Officer
Location: East Perth
Start date: ASAP
Role length: 6 months assignment
Pay rate: $45ph + Super

Your primary accountabilities will include:

• Guide internal teams through the full cycle of the Procure to Pay process to ensure smooth transitions from Purchase Requisition creation to the final payment.
• Create and manage Purchase Requisitions and Purchase orders based on the requirements of various departments, ensuring timely approvals and processing. Collaborate with internal teams to clarify specifications, quantities, and delivery timelines.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that purchasing activities align with governance and compliance requirements.
• Provide ongoing support and answer queries to ensure adherence to procurement policies and best practices. Deliver training sessions for internal stakeholders to familiarize them with the Procure to Pay process as required.
• Verify and reconcile invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes. Ensure timely processing of invoices to facilitate prompt payments to vendors. Work closely with the Accounts Payables team in Perth to ensure timely payments.
• Train end users across Fortescue in the P2P process.
• Work with the procurement team in Perth, Australia to escalate and solve any Purchase Order, Vendor Onboarding or Payment issues.
• Assist Procurement Services Team lead in Perth on any ongoing projects as required.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple sourcing requests.
• Strong written skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively in small to large multi-disciplinary teams, share and transfer knowledge within teams.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a global team (might require working across time zones).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience with SAP preferred but not essential.
