About Queensland Unions
The Queensland Council of Unions (QCU) is the peak union body in Queensland. It is comprised of 25 affiliated unions, representing 400,000 union members.
Our Mission Statement is “Leading Unions to achieve industrial, political and social justice for Queensland Workers”.
The QCU has an Executive of 45 Officers, 13 of whom form the Management Committee.
Job Purpose & Reporting
The Campaign Coordinator position is to help coordinate the QCU state election campaign reporting to the Assistant General Secretary and ultimately to the General Secretary of the QCU.
Key Responsibilities
Working with the Assistant General Secretary, the Campaign Coordinator is expected to undertake the following duties –
Assist with developing campaign strategies;
Assist with developing local messaging and strategy for key target seats;
Undertake liaison with unions, including SEQ and regional organisers, and other stakeholders in key target seats;
Coordinate central events and activities;
Coach and mentor campaign field organisers.
Required Knowledge and Experience
Relevant experience with workplace, organising, political and/or social campaigns.
Skills and Abilities
High level communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven capacity to implement projects and meet competing deadlines.
Well developed personal organisational and administrative skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team member.
Capacity to self-manage own time and work and to meet competing deadlines.
Personal Attributes
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and effective relationships and networks.
High level ability to work with staff in collaborative projects and to promote a cooperative and cohesive team approach.
Demonstrated commitment to the values and principles of trade unionism and ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders within the trade union movement.
Demonstrated commitment to the respect and values of cultural and social diversity both within the workforce and the community.

This temporary full time position is based in Brisbane.

Key Selection Criteria
Previous experience leading a political, industrial, social, or workplace campaign.
Experience in working within a union and/or political environment.
Experience in building and organising volunteer bases for essential campaign activities such as public engagement fora, door knocking teams and/or telephone banks.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members and stakeholders, and to self-manage and work to deadlines, including applying a high level of attention to detail.
Well evidenced ability to demonstrate the values and principles of unionism, and to practice respect and safety for all stakeholders, including with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and other diversity groups within the union movement and community.
