St Columba's Catholic College is looking for an enthusiastic, Qualified Gardener / Groundskeeper to join our school community on an ongoing full-time basis.
Key Accountabilities
Maintenance (including preventative maintenance) to equipment, grounds and gardens including:
- Lawn, hedge and garden establishment and maintenance
- Operation of a specialised range of machinery e.g. ride on mower
- Use of herbicides and pesticides, compliant with safe work practices
- Assisting with building maintenance, painting, general cleaning and washing down of facilities
- Carry out minor repairs to the school's property and equipment as requested
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of equipment for school functions
- Ensuring all work tasks comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements by liaising with the College Business Manager
- Other duties as determined by the Principal
- Relevant certificate or trade qualifications in landscaping / horticulture
- Appropriate demonstrated experience in maintaining extensive gardens/grounds
Qualified Tradespersons are accountable for:
-Employees are required to support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church's work in schools.
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
-Demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines
-Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel
-General maintenance work which includes the use of trade accredited skills in areas such as carpentry, plumbing or electrical services.
Typical Experience and Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in the relevant area of study
- Appropriate demonstrated experience
Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 80 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney.
This position involves working with children.
