Quality Assurance Officer

Sandhurst Fine Foods is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Quality Assurance Officer to join our team to support our warehousing and manufacturing facilities.
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, and working within a small team, responsibilities of this role include:
- Monitoring and checking all critical and quality control points within the production lines for all products being manufactured.
- Oversee incoming HACCP inspections as well as proposed certification upgrades to BRC or IFS Standards. Ensure that the HACCP documentation is regularly reviewed and updated
- Ensure products are made to the highest quality standard
- Ensure Quality Assurance Plan is being maintained and kept up to date.
- Conduct daily Quality inspection checks and other tasks as listed on the position description.
- Undertake/ensure internal audits are conducted as per the Internal Audit Checklist Plan.
- Represent company when external quality audits are conducted. (NSW Food Authority and other 3rd party audits).
- Manage Product Recall control.
- Oversee Product specification maintenance and review.
- Manage Approved Supplier Program.
- Verification of QA/QC paperwork.
- Production QA/QC paperwork maintenance.
- Production scheduling with Production Supervisors with regards to quality issues
- Supporting and influencing the improvement of site Food Safety and Quality Culture through the education of the wider team, providing food safety and quality direction and training where needed.
- Actively participating and contributing to the achievement of operational excellence through coaching and challenging team members to understand why quality and food safety is important.
- Monitoring the performance of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Quality and Food Safety parameters to ensure internal standards are maintained.
- Maintaining the importance of Quality Assurance throughout the organisation through high visibility and ensuring QA involvement in processes.
- Monitoring and verifying that product is inspected at the correct levels, conforms to specification and is safe and hygienic.
- Conducting checks on incoming raw materials.
- Liaise with production and warehousing staff to ensure quality issues are addressed and preventative actions are followed.
- Investigate customer complaints and site non-conformances.
- Inwards goods inspection from container unloads at Hammonds from time to time.
- Assist with new product formulations and research.
- Monitor overseas supplier Packaging compliance.
- Assistance with costings based on average yields in production etc
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Tertiary or relevant qualification in Food Science/Technology
- QA experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of SQF and HACCP programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications
- Highly motivated with outstanding attention to detail, high problem solving skills and able to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
- Permanent resident or Australian citizen
