As a Quality Manager - Operations, you will join our close-knit team on-site in Smeaton Grange. You will be at the forefront of implementing and executing inspection, testing, and evaluation to ensure liquid milk products meet the requirements of The a2 Milk Company and act as a key enabler of its growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Smeaton Grange laboratory and all associated functions in this operation.
- Manage a team, with two direct reports and three indirect reports.
- Ensure product release occurs in a timely manner.
- Develop a training plan for Lab Staff in accordance with EA.
- Conduct GMP and Internal Audits for the site.
- Conduct external Supplier Audits as per schedule (some local travel may be required)
- Drive and participate in continuous improvement activities for lab and production site.
- Apply Problem-solving skills— to address and identify the root cause of site quality-related issues.
- Liaise with external suppliers to improve packaging performance for recurring issues.
- Work with Quality Manager – Systems to improve Food Safety Culture.
- Support new NPD or any projects on site. (including documentation)
Skills & Experience
- Degree Qualified in Science/Food Technology or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in Quality Management and leading a small team.
- Proven experience working with food/FMCG Industry.
- Working knowledge of Quality Systems and HACCP implementation.
- Lead Food Safety Auditor Trained. (desirable, not mandatory)
- Internal Auditor Trained.
- HACCP Trained.
- Leadership capability.
- High attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Fully proficient in the use of the MS Suite of products.
- Writing work instructions/procedures.
