Primo Foods are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the team working Sunday to Thursday, based in Wacol. This is a permanent full-time position with plenty of opportunity to learn and grow within a leading Brand.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain laboratory and its procedures according to GLP and company requirements.
- Maintain external & internal testing database.
- Prepare and package samples for shipment to a NATA accredited laboratory using aseptic techniques.
- Ensure microbial testing programs are conducted according to schedule.
- Environmental testing program database & reporting.
- Enumeration, Interpretation and reporting of testing.
- Routine microbiological analysis of raw meat, in-process and finished meat products using standard methods.
- Media preparation and quality control.
- Report non-conforming results to supervisors & Manager.
About you:
- Proven laboratory experience or testing in a food environment.
- Experience in rapid molecular pathogen testing techniques & equipment is advantageous.
- A good understanding & knowledge of microbiological aseptic techniques (Gram staining, aseptic sampling, dilutions, plating, swab collection, autoclaving & biochemical tests etc).
- Proficient in computer literacy including MS Office and Excel applications.
- Knowledge of customer and regulatory (FSANZ & Department of Agriculture) requirements.
- Understanding and implementing laboratory quality assurance procedures.
- High level of analytical and reporting skills.
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to work both in a team and independently.
