THE ROLE
Truro Quarry is a high-quality hard rock deposit in South Australia, that produces excellent quality asphalt, sealing and concrete aggregates and combined with a high-capacity transport route that links to 24/7 access to our key customers, this quarry has all the attributes to become the leading hard rock quarry in South Australia. To enable Truro Quarry to achieve it’s potential, significant investment has been undertaken by the Group over the past 2 years, which includes significant crushing plant upgrades, mobile fleet replacement, a large workshop facility and brand-new office and amenities buildings.
The primary focus of the Quarry Manager is the safe and efficient supervision of operations at Truro Quarry. You will have a genuine interest in the day-to-day leadership, supervision and challenges of running a hard rock operation, including responsibility for safety performance, production targets, quality control, and continuous improvement. As the Quarry Manager you will have an uncompromising and overriding commitment to safety and the ability to lead the safety performance and culture of the entire team and the site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIIES
Reporting to the Area Manager, other responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership to ensure all operations are conducted safely in accordance with legislation and Hallett Group standards of OH&S.
- Implement strategies to achieve WH&S, production and financial performance targets.
- Develop, implement and review quarry development and production plans for the Quarry.
- Ensure all quarry materials and stockpiles meet Australian Standards, DIT and customer specifications.
- Supporting your team to understand and meet all quality, policy and procedure requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES
- Diploma in Surface Operations / Extractive Industries or equivalent (preferred);
- Demonstrated leadership capability and strong communication skills;
- Minimum 5 years practical and supervisory experience in hard rock quarry or mining operations including managing drill and blast, load and haul and crushing and screening operations;
- Demonstrated WHS focus and knowledge of the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations;
- Experience in Continuous Improvement strategies, and
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
