Our diverse business is made up of fresh chillies (we are the largest chilli grower in Australia), herb and vegetable purees and our retail brand, AvoFresh. We're passionate about developing creative food solutions for our customers. Established for almost 30 years, we are Australian family owned & operated and employ approximately 150 people.
We’re looking for a creative individual to provide support to our business in an R&D Officer/Food Technologist capacity.
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work closely together to bring our innovation ideas to life by creating new products and improving existing lines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop new product concepts and make changes to existing formulas
- Coordinate product shelf life testing schedules including sensory, physical and chemical evaluations
- Conduct bench samples and lab trials to meet customer brief and timeframes
- Organise, attend, and coordinate factory trials
- Assist with product label reviews, generating NIP, ingredient declarations and specifications
- Provide innovative solutions to technical opportunities for new and existing customers
- Exploring/researching new food technologies
- Prepare technical information for internal and external purposes
- Ensure adherence to national, state and local food standard requirements
- Manage/coordinate sales and admin samples
- Contribute to project planning and execution
- Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) related functions from time-to-time when required by the business
To be successful, you will have:
- University education in Food Science, Food Technology or similar
- Minimum two (2) years development experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Hands-on approach to food technology
- Work well to deadlines and can confidently manage expectations of stakeholders
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal), with strong facilitation and relationship building skills
- Exceptional problem-solving, organisational, and planning skills
- Experience training individuals or teams
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
This is a full time role based on site in Bundaberg. However, a part-time or flexible working arrangement could be considered for the right candidate.
