The Recipe Development and Testing Senior Manager is responsible for leading, inspiring and motivating the Recipe Development and Recipe Testing team to create delicious recipes with the HelloFresh and EveryPlate customer in mind.
 

Delivering on an end-to-end culinary Recipe Development and validation process, the role is responsible for the creation of new and improvement of existing recipes for the HelloFresh and/or EveryPlate database that adhere to recipe score, 1%s & core AIP targets, internal tasting guidelines, and budgetary and seasonality constraints.

Reporting directly into the Associate Director of Culinary, the role requires adept collaboration with senior stakeholders to develop new ideas and establish improvements to existing processes. The role also requires a proactive, creative yet analytical and decisive individual who has the ability to
manage multiple priorities.

● Lead the Recipe Developers and Recipe Testers to ensure they are supported, inspired and have the ability to grow in their personal and professional development through regular 1:1s, team meetings, Retro sessions and personal development plans.
● Lead our internal Recipe Development & Testing and feedback integration process, ensuring alignment with product roadmap and consistent standards of excellence across concepts.
● Manage the Recipe Development and Recipe Testing team work-flow infrastructure to ensure seamless day-to-day operations and quality and quantity of output.
● Participate in the critique of all culinary team members’ recipe creation attempts – providing constructive feedback and criticism to ensure that only excellent recipes and recipes that would appeal to HF and EP customer proceed to being used in HF and EP boxes.
● Steer product performance assessment and continuous improvement initiatives for recipes and SKUs (from a Culinary perspective).
● Conduct small recipe and ad-hoc data analysis, using Tableau and internal systems to support Recipe Development and meet Culinary OKR targets, and proactively brief Culinary Analyst on mid-large Culinary projects.
● Undertake or steer strategic projects and lead the team in achieving key milestones, aligned with the broader objectives, key results and product improvement.
● Support Culinary input into weekly, monthly and quarterly business review sessions, and lead the Culinary input into fortnightly Product Performance reviews.
● Oversee test kitchen operations, servicing teams across 3 markets, including stock rotation, food safety, expense management, and event coordination.
● Attend and lead the Weekly Feedback review sessions for HFAU, HFNZ and EPAU to decide, collectively, to follow-up actions with regards to delete, keep, recook and retest recipes.

● Proven experience in the Culinary field, backed-up by experience and knowledge:
      ○ 4-5 years experience in food product development, menu development, Test Kitchen, magazine or meal kit experience; and
     ○ A Culinary Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (excellent experience is also considered).

● Strong people management experience, with the ability to act as a role model to cultivate high performance, learning and development opportunities, effective engagement strategies and to foster constructive feedback.
● Excellent communication - able to communicate at all levels with structure, clarity, poise and precision, both written and verbal.
● Outstanding problem solving capability - able to use logic to identify opportunities, evaluate alternatives, and synthesise and present critical information to solve complex problems.
