The Brisbane Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy, is a compassionate and justice-driven community founded in 1861, dedicated to serving those in need with mercy, justice, and compassion. We are seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Redress and Research Officer/Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission by providing specialised research and advisory services across key areas including the National Redress Scheme, civil claims, and family/historical research inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process notices related to the National Redress Scheme and Civil Claims, ensuring timely and appropriate action in accordance with established protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive research on all inquiries, collaborating closely with the Congregation Leader and Leadership Team.
- Address research inquiries with thorough investigation and analysis, providing timely and accurate responses.
- Maintain meticulous records of all inquiries and actions taken, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organisational policies.
- Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to facilitate seamless coordination and support.
- Stay abreast of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices to enhance service delivery and stay informed in the field.
- Adhere to safe work practices and promote hazard management in accordance with organisational procedures.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Well-developed understanding of the National Redress Scheme and contemporary research practices.
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial.
- Commitment to child and vulnerable person safety, including passing and maintaining relevant legislative probity checks.
- Integrity, sensitivity to privacy and confidentiality and ethical decision-making.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- High level of computing skills, including experience in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Proactive and methodical approach with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work consistently and with a high level of accuracy.
- Invoice management and oversight.
- Ability to remain calm and work unsupervised.
Desirable Skills:
- Working knowledge of the Catholic Church in Australia, its structure, and language.
