Mater is looking for a Research Officer to join the Queensland Centre of Excellence in Autism and Intellectual Disability Health Team! This permanent, full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.
Salary range: $98,658 - $106,057 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you’ll be doing
You will coordinate the evaluation of the Centre and contribute to high quality research to improve the health and well-being of people with intellectual disability and Autistic people. You will achieve this by:
- Manage and coordinate the evaluation of the Centre using quantitative and qualitative methods, under the direction of the leadership team.
- Apply co-design principles and ways of working to ensure meaningful input from people with intellectual disability and autistic people.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to progress the aims of the Centre and contribute the research portfolio including collaboration with clinicians, consumers, and carers to produce translational research outcomes.
- Consult with all relevant research groups including organising and attending meetings across project stakeholders and the centre collaborators.
- Work with the project team to develop and execute projects to meet milestones.
- Manage reporting and actively identify delays and challenges.
- Lead ethics and governance application processes.
- Lead the collection of data including service level data, data analysis and interpretation.
- Prepare written documents and oral presentations that summarises the analysis of data, interprets the findings and provides conclusions and recommendations.
- Contribute to the effective supervision of research assistants, Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
- Attend relevant training programs and mandatory educational programs, workshops, conference and promotional functions.
About you
You will have a PhD in the area of Intellectual and Developmental Disability, Mental Health or related field. You will also meet the below criteria:
- Experience in conducting research with people with intellectual disability, autism or psychosocial disability
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development, conduct, monitoring, analyse and interpretation of health service research methods.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyse complex datasets.
- Ability to conduct qualitative research or willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills necessary for negotiating and liaising effectively with a diverse range of staff, patients and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and solve problems to provide accurate and appropriate outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written materials in different styles and formats appropriate to the audience
- Knowledge of data management systems
- Experience in health care evaluation and methodology
- Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A background in Intellectual and Developmental Disability or mental health research
- Experience working with service level data to inform evaluation of health services
- Experience in research ethics, governance preparation and submission
