The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) lead the sustainable development of Western Australia's regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors. About the opportunity

There is currently one (1) fixed-term position available for immediate filling.

This is also a recruitment pool for permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments. This position will work out of the Collie and Bunbury offices, but appointments made from the pool could be for other South West locations.

The South West Development Commission (Commission) are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Regional Development Officer keen to learn and strive to achieve positive outcomes. The Commission plays a key role in the State Government's Collie Delivery Unit which coordinates, oversees and promotes activities and initiatives that support the transition and future prosperity of Collie.

As part of a small dynamic team within the Collie and Communities Portfolio, this position will have an active role working with a range of other government agencies in supporting initiatives and programs to support a just transition for the Collie community. Within this team your responsibilities will span a spectrum of tasks, from the review and evaluation of project submissions, building and managing stakeholder relationships, contributing to cross agency working groups and coordination of reports, submissions, and briefings.

As a Regional Development Officer, you will have the additional ability to support the Commission in the planning and implementation of community and economic development projects. Your responsibilities could span a spectrum of tasks from providing advice on regional projects to coordinating reports, submissions and briefings on Regional Development issues.

We are looking for individuals with:

  • Excellent communication skills including engagement with stakeholders at various levels internal and external to the organisation.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills relating to project delivery, administration, planning, and client engagement.
  • Ability to rigorously evaluate project ideas, formulate recommendations and produce reports and briefings.
  • A proactive and open-minded approach to working with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate, resolve problems arising from competing and changing priorities, deliver within tight timelines and have an adaptable approach.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
