Job description

The role is responsible for the provision and delivery of security services to customers within a portfolio of clients and the retention of existing business profit and growth. The Regional Manager - Tasmania & Aviation will develop and execute plans to deliver revenue, profit and growth targets whilst managing business process improvement and providing all employees with a safe workplace. The role will achieve these objectives by providing leadership and direction to the Tasmania and Aviation operations teams. This aim should be achieved whilst innovating, growing revenue and managing operational effectiveness. Overall, the incumbent will achieve these objectives whilst providing visible leadership in managing staff and building a high performing team.

Key Responsibilities of the Regional Manager - Tasmania & Aviation, include:

Business Administration

  • Establish, monitor, and update operational procedures, contractual terms etc to maximise productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure all client contract and finance records are updated and maintained appropriately.
  • Participate in QA, business and profitability reviews and implementing improvements as required.
  • Act as an approval point for employee records, leave and payroll adjustments in the HR systems, as needed.
  • Providing regular reports to EGM VIC/TAS and clients as required.

Business Development

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of existing and future customer needs, including maintaining an understanding of market 'drivers' and the broader security industry environment
  • Generate business revenue growth, by assisting with identification and conversion of new customer leads and sales opportunities in existing customers.
  • Prepare and assist with proposal preparation and quotations.

Customer Retention

  • Maintain and support business managers through regular contact with customers, actioning requests from customers as required and ensuring specific service levels are maintained.
  • Ensure timely management of issues, with effective communication to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enact a solution focused approach to customer issues and requests.

Client Profitability

  • Ensure quotations account for company costing approach to optimise costs and minimize financial impact on business.
  • Optimise training costs and execution in line with quotation and customer needs.
  • Minimise controllable indirect costs and challenge allocated indirect costs.

Employee Engagement

  • Lead, coach, manage and develop large teams across multiple businesses, locations and sites which also include the mentorship towards Business Manager and Site Managers.
  • Maintain a strong management team with a balance of operational efficiency, customer management skills, personal drive and experience.
  • Identify and rectify employee issues promptly and with support from appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and professional development to team members.
  • Communicate effectively with direct and indirect reports

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensuring development and maintenance of effective and comprehensive HSE programs with the Tasmania and Victorian Aviation businesses.
  • Sustaining an effective HSE management system and adherence to HSE principles and practices throughout the businesses.
  • Ensuring health, safety and environment targets and performance are reviewed regularly and actioned accordingly to provide a safer workplace for all.
  • Driving engagement in HSE activities and lead by example in displaying proactive and positive behaviour in relation to the company values and HSE activities.
  • Being aware of the environmental and safety impacts throughout the lifecycle of the services we provide (e.g. general operational purchasing, during tender stage, transition in stage, duration of contract, transition out stage).

  • Efficient and effective use of relevant systems such as but not limited to Workday HRIMS, and Rolecall (Rostering system), Lighthouse (monitoring)
  • Any additional duties as requested by Management

Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience in the Security and/or Aviation Industry
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (well regarded)
  • Certificate II (or higher) in Security Operations (highly desirable)
  • Experience in managing large teams and various portfolios of clients in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong business/commercial acumen with competence in budgeting, costings and/or involvement in tenders
  • Well-developed people skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people
  • Current VIC Security License and Driver's license

Competencies required for the role

  • Ability to interpret P&Ls
  • General computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Ability to 'sell' and 'close' and influence and manage conflict constructively
  • Able to work under pressure, adapt well to changing and unforeseen conditions
  • Conceptual thinker and able to present concepts clearly
  • Highly developed Human Resources Management skills, with experience dealing with industrial relations, industry awards/Agreements
