The Opportunity
Jetstar currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced people manager to join our Flying Operations team as a Regional Performance Manager. Reporting to the Regional Flying Manager (RFM), you will support the RFM in developing and implementing local projects that drive a performance culture and develop a high performing team and an engaged workforce.
As the Regional Performance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day performance, attendance, wellbeing, and people elements of Flight Crew for a designated region whilst supporting the Regional Flying Manager in the delivery of the People and Financial strategy.
The core responsibilities of this role are;
  • Manage and lead attendance and absence at an individual level, including conducting all wellbeing discussions where there are both informal and formal fitness for work requirements.
  • Manage and lead all disciplinary issues, both formal and informal performance matters, that may lead to termination of employment. Provide advice on the most appropriate outcomes to manage performance. Escalate to RFM if required.
  • Manage injured flight crew, including coordinating with People Team, Case Management, Workers Compensation, QF and Jetstar Medical and external advisers.
  • Manage all DAMP matters.
  • Monitor trends at region level and provide safety and wellness insights to RFM and stakeholders.
  • Become the expert on absenteeism and welfare for region.
  • Participate in / lead Projects that relate to wellbeing and engagement that will affect the financial success of flight crew in the region, as directed by the RFM.
  • Monitor and analyse wellbeing, behaviour and performance trends within own region (such as absenteeism). Suggest improvement initiatives to influence OTP and financial region performance.
  • Support and drive national initiatives
  • Work with stakeholders such as workforce planning to communicate future trends and concerns to support improved resource planning.
  • Develop health and wellbeing initiatives (such as fatigue reduction) to improve wellbeing and people engagement survey results of flight crew.
  • Support RFM in driving improved region engagement.
  • Work under the direction of RFM to deliver engagement projects
  • Manage and develop region expectations and KPIs to enhance performance standards.
  • Provide advice to RFM in matters relevant to the performance & culture of employees that have the potential to ensure effective tracking and accountability processes are in place.
  • Track individual behaviours, provide insights, and propose initiatives for Flying Operations OTP improvement.
  • Develop and maintain performance and wellbeing dashboards, providing best practice innovation of systems and people management. Be a representative for people performance systems projects.
  • Act as trusted advisor to RFM for metrics and accountabilities. Attend region leadership meetings for all people-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other RPMs to achieve national outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Extensive experience in People performance and wellbeing development
  • Tertiary qualified to degree level or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in managing grievances and HR/IR grievances
  • Experience in working with agreements and awards and their interpretation with the operational environment.
  • Knowledge of the systems and resources that support Flight Operations
  • Detailed understanding of People policy and procedures
  • Highly developed negotiation, influencing, and problem solving & analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated sound practical judgement and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple time sensitive tasks to effective conclusion.
