About The Opportunity
Campbelltown hospital has an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic group of midwives within the Postnatal and/or Midwife Services Programme setting. Lactation and educational support provided.
Midwifery at Campbelltown hospital, enables midwives to work to their full scope of practice, via rotations into midwifery continuity of care models, and rotations throughout the maternity service if requested.
The care available to women and families and the options for growth and development for midwives is endless and amongst the best in NSW. The midwifery team is supportive of empowering mothers in their pregnancies, labour and postpartum periods, and seek to allow mothers to have natural, safe and informed births.
With one of the highest rates of vaginal births in NSW (over 70%), Campbelltown Hospital Midwifery prides itself on providing holistic care for mothers and enables them to have the birth of their choice. The hospital provides care for a diverse population group, and houses many young families moving into the area.
Campbelltown is the fastest growing local government area in the LHD, as such, you will see many mothers through their first birth and beyond, and experience working in the beautiful new redevelopment building.
The midwifery team are supportive in ensuring growth and development for the team. Senior management are readily available to speak with and want to ensure each individual midwife succeeds in their career. What You'll Be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.
This position may entail rotating through various clinical areas such as, Birthing Unit, Post/Antenatal Ward, Special Care Nursery and Antenatal Clinic.

The hospital is a dynamic, diverse and collaborative with all sectors of the hospital working together to provide to superior patient care. Whilst being the major hospital for the MacArthur area, the hospital has not lost its sense of community and regional support.
Located close to the CBD and public transport, Campbelltown Hospital is largely becoming one of South West Sydney’s most important medical precincts with a range of services including cardiology, maternity, palliative care, respiratory medicine, emergency medicine and aged-care services. The hospital features both Mental Health and Cancer facilities which offer patients exceptional care and continued support.
The hospital is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar upgrade, boasting the state of the art equipment and amenities to help serve the community. Inside of this redevelopment comes a focus on training and upskilling throughout the hospital with an emphasis on encouraging staff to pursue learning and development opportunities.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, families, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
