About the role
The Parent & Infant Unit provides specialist, contemporary perinatal mental health treatment for families during pregnancy and up to infants being 12 months old. The RPN2 has a role in supporting parents through mental health difficulties as they journey through the perinatal period.
- Provide exceptional mental health support and treatment for consumers
- Provide evidence-based treatment options to support parents, infants and families
- Implement approaches to mental health treatment and evaluate progress
- Support quality improvement initiatives
- Complete mental state exams and risk assessments for consumers in their care
- Complete clear and accurate documentation in a timely manner
- Completes medication administration in adherence to overarching governance.
- Undertakes tasks under direction of ANUM on duty
- Ensures safety of others is considered and maintained
- Provide recovery-orientated consumer-led mental health care
- Experience in mental health nursing preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing preferred
- Knowledge of mental health nursing assessment and treatment modalities
- Ability to acknowledge and engage the strengths of consumers who are seeking support

This position is paid in accordance with the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement. The classification is Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2 (NP21 - NP26) which ranges from $36.10 - $46.38 per hour
All appointments are subject to a satisfactory police records check, immunisation clearance and Working with Children check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Check.
All employees must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required, which at a minimum is a surgical mask. Additional PPE requirements are role-dependent.
