Mercy Health is seeking expression of interest from passionate Graduate Registered Nurses for the Registered Nurse transition to practice program, delivered in partnership with ACCPA (Aged Care & Community Care Providers Association). This innovative 6- month program aims to provide guidance to Graduate Registered Nurses in their first year of clinical practice through mentorship and online professional development sessions led by expert clinicians, supporting the completion of your professional portfolio development. The aim of this program is to ensure that the graduate nurses becoming confident, safe, competent and professional practitioners within the aged care sector. This is an excellent opportunity for graduate nurses to receive mentoring and network within the aged care community, thereby enhancing their knowledge and skill sets.
Key elements of the Program:
- Duration of the program is 12 months
- Next Intake is in Feb 2024, multiple intakes in 2024
- Opportunities across Mercy Health Residential Aged Care & Home Care locations including Shepperton, Colac,Bendigo & Albury

- Opportunity to be mentored by senior clinical leaders within the Residential Aged Care team
- Professional Development led by industry and clinical experts. Monthly topics critical to aged care are delivered to participants through 90-minute online weekly sessions.
- Self-assessment activities to gauge your level of knowledge
- Connects participants to the private learning management system, Moodle, allowing for easy access to professional development resources, participation in forums, and networking activities.
- Supports the successful completion of an individual’s professional portfolio.
- Support from ACCPA RN Facilitators to help participants stay connected and engaged in the program.
- On-the-job learning and development through the creation and implementation of individual support plans and clinical assessments
- Induction program and Community of Practice forums for participants.
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree with AHPRA registration
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent clinical skill base and knowledge of legislation within Aged Care
- Experience in leading and supervising teams of people
- Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care and the ability to work in a team environment
- A willingness to commit to the full duration of the program
