Registered Nurse (Oncology) – Icon Cancer Centre Hobart

We are now looking for Registered Nurses to join us on full-time, part-time or casual basis as we’ve nurses moving into new positions and expected growth in the next few months!
  
If oncology nursing is new to you, then do not let that dissuade you. Icon has an extremely strong governance to support you with onboarding and credentialling. You will work supernumerary until you are signed off as a proficient oncology nurse receiving one on one training throughout.

Hourly Rate: Calculated with respect to previous years’ as RN (i.e., 1 year = $38.48, 7 years = $$47.14), +11% Superannuation, 5 Weeks Annual Leave, PD Days & Allowance

Icon Cancer Centre Hobart Treatment/Care:
  

• 8 chair day oncology hospital, offering chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy
• Scalp cooling system – Cooling cap available to help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy treatment
• Screening for lymphoedema risk using a SOZO machine, the latest in technology for cancer-related lymphoedema
• Radiation Therapy treatments using our state-of-the-art linear accelerator and superficial skin Xray machine
• Treatment for malignant and non-malignant blood disorders, including administration of supportive therapies and blood products such as hormone treatments, bisphosphonates and iron infusions
• Minor procedures for diagnostic and prognostic purposes
• Genetic counselling – Cancer risk assessment, genetic testing and advice

About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our team at the Icon Cancer Centre Hobart, with the opportunity for nursing across our radiation and medical oncology/haematology departments. This position will report to the Nurse Manager and will focus on the delivery of exceptional personalised cancer care to patients and their families.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  

• Contribute expert advice and demonstrate contemporary nursing knowledge and skill in oncology nursing practice in accordance with current legislation and professional standards and codes of practice
• Monitoring and administering medication and intravenous anticancer infusions
• Patient assessment, observation and education including expert management of treatment related side effects
• Inserting and care of peripheral and central access devices
• Assisting doctors with procedures and providing pre and post procedure care and education
• Maintaining and updating patients written and electronic records
• Providing emotional support to patients, families and carers
• Support the Nurse Manager in the day to day operations
• Support a high performance culture that delivers quality patient care services through a patient centric and collaborative approach

  
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Within Medical Oncology, this position involves the administration of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and related blood and supportive treatments. Within Radiation Oncology, this position involves the proactive nursing care to support patients through their treatment. If cross skilled there will be potential opportunity to work across both the Medical Oncology Day Hospital and the Radiation Oncology Departments.
  

• 2 years recent experience in medical oncology/ haematology and/or radiation oncology nursing (desirable only)
• Current AHPRA registration.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the provision of exceptional patient centred care.
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work autonomously and positively as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Must be vaccinated against Covid-19 a vaccine approved by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation
