The Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (Ophthalmology) to join the team at Surgical Outpatients. This position is on a permanent part-time basis, working 68 hours per fortnight and sits within our Surgical Service Group.
The Registered Nurse role provides direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients and nursing staff within Surgical Outpatients, to ensure the delivery of best practice and quality patient care.

Surgical ClinicsThe Surgical Clinics facilitate specialist outpatient services for Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, Vascular, Facio-Maxillary, Orthopaedic, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Preadmission services. The Surgical Clinics has approximately 4000 occasions of service per month.
Role requirements
- Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
Generous remuneration package value up to $80189 p.a.comprising:
- Salary rates between $40.51-$51.97 p.h. (NG5)
- Annual leave loading + leave

- Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
- High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
- Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
- Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
- Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.
