The Friendly Society Private Hospital, affectionately known as The Friendlies, is a 142-bed acute care surgical and medical facility that provides the highest quality healthcare set in modern facilities with the latest technology. Established as a not-for-profit medical facility in 1946, we have grown to become the leading hospital of choice for the people of Bundaberg and the Wide Bay regions having proudly cared for our community for more than 65 years.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our busy 30 bed Orthopaedic unit with strong clinical skills for management of acutely unwell post-surgical orthopaedic patients. To be successful, you must be able to deliver exceptional patient care and demonstrate a level of skill in clinical decision making and care giving.

  1. Tertiary qualification and current registration with AHPRA
  2. Demonstrated acute orthopaedic experience including patient management, pain management strategies both pre, and post-surgical and observation/reporting post-operative complications (highly desirable).
  3. Relevant medical experience gained in an acute environment that demonstrates knowledge and skills transferable to a role in a surgical unit
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, share information and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary health team
  5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, promote confidence and satisfaction with patients, families’ and support persons

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements
It is a mandatory condition of employment that some roles within our hospital require you to be vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against some or all of the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis. Mandatory vaccination requirements for this role will be discussed further with applicants throughout the application process.
