Role Overview:
Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the South Australian Criminal Justice System? We are currently seeking dynamic and skilled Registered Nurses to join our team as part of our SAPOL program. In this role, you will provide consultation, triage, and assessment nursing care to those incarcerated in the SAPOL correctional facilities, ensuring their well-being and supporting hospital avoidance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply nursing skills within the scope of practice as per AHPRA guidelines and training
- Provide clinical care to detainees and Police Officers within the SAPOL correctional facilities
- Assess detainees for 'Fit for Custody' in collaboration with admitting SAPOL Officer
- Complete accurate and timely patient notes and documentation
- Collaborate and communicate with General Practitioners and other healthcare professionals
- Actively recognise and respond to clinical deterioration or incidents
- Attend regular training to stay updated and maintain current skills and knowledge within your scope of practice
About You:
To be successful in this role you will possess a Bachelor of Nursing and current unrestricted AHPRA registration. You will also bring with you a minimum of 3 years’ of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse. You will have strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.
You must also possess:
- National Police Clearance
- Unrestricted South Australian Driver's License
- WWCC and NDIS clearances
- Current manual handling, first aid, and CPR certificates
- Proof of mandatory vaccinations (including COVID and Flu)
