Job description

At Lives Lived Well, we’ve been treating and supporting young people and adults whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also support people with mental health and gambling concerns and those transitioning from correctional centres.
We are committed to celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We offer ceremonial and NAIDOC leave and have established a support network for our First Nations staff, to build relationships, share knowledge and debrief.
If you share our belief that with the right support, people can change their lives, think in a curious and critical way, and thrive on learning and change, join us and do your best work here!
About the Service
Located in the beautiful coastal regional city of Coffs Harbour surrounded by a host of stunning beaches and tranquil rainforests, this youth residential alcohol and other drug service provides therapeutic rehabilitation and withdrawal support to young people aged 13 – 18 years.
This youth residential rehab provides an 8-bed recovery service, including 2 withdrawal beds providing a safe environment to withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs. The 12 week program is structured to include therapeutic interventions, psycho-education, relapse prevention, case management, cultural connection activities, life skills and aftercare support.
This program and service is led by a compassionate, curious and non-judgmental leader, passionate about supporting staff and asking, ‘why not, and what’s next?
Your opportunity
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide client centred, evidence-informed care that assists in the achievement of optimal health outcomes for young persons with AOD dependency and a broad range of associated psychological and physiological issues.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conducting holistic health care assessments including mental health assessments, assist in the formulation of treatment plans and maintain appropriate client records.
Provide Intake support and play a lead role with the transition of young people from community to Residential care.
Monitor the physical condition of residents including managing day to day presentations, triaging need in line with priority for care, managing referrals to GP, coordination of acute care (hospital admissions) and liaising with frontline services where necessary.
Take responsibility for all aspects of medication management including safe storage, administration, documentation, staff training, overarching governance, and quality control.
Develop and deliver a range of health-related and evidence based psycho-education to residents
This is a permanent part-time position, working 19 hours per week and the hourly rate of pay for this position is $51.12 - $54.68 per hour plus packaging plus super.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, there are some essentials you’ll need:
Extensive and proven experience in the provision of client centred nursing care, working with individuals with complex problematic alcohol and substance use and/or mental health issues.
Possess Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
Highly developed skills in conducting clinical assessment and making clinically informed decision for provision of effective nursing interventions.
Demonstrated experience in working with general practice and/or primary health care settings.
Understanding of working within culturally secure programs and a clear articulation of these values
Proven capacity to work flexibly in the context of a community-based setting and to provide support, good communication, and leadership in response to clinical incidents.
A valid Working with Children Check (or the ability to apply).
What matters most is that you’ll live and breathe our values, which means:
You are humble, human and full of hope.
You show up and share.
You ask: Why not? And what’s next?
You leave a positive wake.
Why work for Lives Lived Well?
You’ll join a curious team that thinks differently and seeks new ways. We look to the evidence. We explore new ideas. And when we reach “better”, we ask, “What’s next?” Which means you’ll need to be comfortable with change - you’ll enjoy variety, the agility, and the opportunity to achieve more, faster.
While you support others, we’ll support you with some great benefits, including:
Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
Regular clinical supervision, case conferencing and debriefings.
An employee assistance program (EAP) for you and your family, including emotional, psychological, financial counselling and well being services.
Fitness Passport membership access to a wide range of gyms, pools, and fitness and leisure centres across Australia, at a discounted rate.
