An exciting opportunity exists for a Registrar (5th Year)-Ophthalmology for a training role in the Department of Ophthalmology. The position provides day to day Ophthalmology services to patients presenting to the hospital. It is intended that the Registrar will both maximise his/her own professional development and to assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of students.

About the role
Using a patient focused care approach; the position will contribute to a total quality patient service by providing Ophthalmology services as part of the Sunshine Coast Health Service District. There is a strong focus on patient outcomes rather than individual expertise, and as such the concept of a team approach is fostered, incorporating all levels of medical, nursing, and allied health staff. The heavy workload of the Department of Ophthalmology creates a challenging but fulfilling work environment that depends on all staff exhibiting commitment to patient care and working as a cohesive group.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Department of Ophthalmology, the Hospital, District and Queensland Health.
- Maintain up to date Ophthalmology skills.
- Provide high quality, safe Ophthalmology care and advice to patients presenting to the Ophthalmology Department.
- Participate in the training of and supervision of junior medical staff.

Generous remuneration package, comprising base salary between $129,583 - $150,240 p.a., (+ applicable allowances/benefits) employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (L4-L9), (Fixed Term Temporary Full-time up to 12 months, 76 hrs per fortnight).
