About the Role

The Customer Response Branch are responsible for enabling a great place to live and protecting the environment for the community on the Sunshine Coast by working with our customers and businesses.

As a Regulated Parking Officer, you’ll have the opportunity to operate Council’s new ParkSmart vehicle. This hybrid vehicle is equipped with advanced parking monitoring and number plate recognition technology that improves the efficiency and safety of monitoring parking behaviour.

The successful candidates will represent Council within the community, providing accurate and timely advice and information regarding Council’s Local Laws and State legislation.  This role is responsible for operating and maintaining team equipment including handheld devices utilised to issue infringement notices. You will also assist with community education programs as well as liaise with key stakeholder groups on issues relating to road safety and parking, whilst identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Represent Council in interactions with the community and provide accurate advice regarding operations that falls within the responsibility of the team.
  • Undertake proactive rostered Regulated Parking patrols in all regulated areas.
  • Responsibly operate and maintain equipment used to support the team. 
  • Inform and educate the community, liaise with key stakeholder groups, on issues relating to road safety and parking. 

About you

As a public-facing officer, you will possess a strong ability to work calmly in a high-pressure customer service environment. You are professionally presented with the capacity to set and maintain a high standard of output through your professional presentation and attention to detail.

As a requirement of the role, you will:

  • Have completed Year 12 studies or equivalent experience. 
  • Possess a Current Drivers Licence - “C” Class at all times.
  • Work across council work locations on rotating rosters including working on weekends and public holidays.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.

Criminal History Check Required

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
