The Role
The role of a Rehabilitation Consultant is to apply and provide a biopsychosocial approach to rehabilitation services considering biomedical, psychological and social factors that influence recovery and successful civilian employment outcomes for injured veterans. In this role your responsibilities will include;
- Engaging all relevant parties in the development and implementation of an individual and tailored rehabilitation plan to address medical, vocational and social needs
- Actively monitoring the rehabilitation plan and regularly engage with all parties to address barriers as they arise and ensure the goals are achieved
- Work with the Veteran Employment Consultant to source work placements/experience/trials, volunteering roles and/or employment opportunities, investigate retraining and recognised prior learning options
- Be an expert on veteran related services that can be offered through DVA SPECIFIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TASKS (if qualified)
- Promptly undertake Activities of Daily Living, Workplace and Ergonomic Assessments as referred by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs
- Attendance and participation in OT Forums.
To be successful in the Rehabilitation Consultant role you will have experience supporting individuals with complex injuries/needs, including but not limited to mental health conditions.
You will also need:
- Minimum Affiliate membership with ASORC/RCAA or Full membership with AHPRA/AASW
- Demonstrated integrity and accountability in a professional environment
- Respect for the individual
- Ability to motivate and empower through your role
- Passion for helping people
- Current drivers license
- Mental Health First Aid Trained
- Current Working with Children's Check
- Current Police Check
