We now have an opportunity available for an experienced Relief Chef to join our Roving Workforce who is available to work Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate would have the capacity to be flexible to work across a number of our Juniper Sites across North and South Metro to cover planned and unplanned leave. Travel allowance will be paid based on Enterprise Agreement rates for days when you are required to travel further than your regular base station. 

The purpose of this role is to prepare high quality, nutritious meals to meet our residents’ special dietary requirements. You will be responsible for supervising a small team of catering staff and ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to. You will also make sure that the quality of meals is maintained at a high standard and that a safe food service is provided. To join our team you will need to be keen to contribute to a positive, welcoming environment that enhances the lives of others.

You’ll need a current WA/Intl Driver’s Licence and a reliable vehicle.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

• Preparing and cooking high quality, nourishing meals for our residents
• Monitoring all practices within the catering centre to ensure safe food handling and infection control procedures are being adhered to
• Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards
• Stock control management, replenishing and ordering stock as required
• Compliancy with Juniper’s Occupational, Safety and Health requirements
• Provide supervision and direction to Kitchen Hands

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

• Certificate 4 in Commercial Cookery (Essential)
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate  (Essential)
• Previous experience in an aged care production kitchen environment (Essential)
• Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for elderly residents (Essential)
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
• Competent in using Microsoft Office
• Empathy for elderly residents
