About the opportunity
The Matilda Centre is seeking a driven Research Administration Officer to join their research teams. This role will require the preferred candidate to provide general administrative support and specialised operational tasks to improve the experience of academic staff, research team members, and seniors across the Matilda Centre. As part of this role, you will be able to develop a career at the University of Sydney in the Research Admin field, completing relevant tasks to facilitate the team's research capabilities. You will work to support (primarily), the Centre's Senior Academics and be highly integrated with the Operations team to ensure smooth, swift, and accurate completion of general administrative and complex operational tasks.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Complete administrative and operational tasks across the Matilda Centre to support the research teams
- undertake administrative tasks such as conducting diary management, travel bookings, contract management, and other general administrative activities
- undertake more complex administrative research support tasks such as contract process management, staff recruitment, project budget support
- support the Operations team by providing administrative and operational support to the Centre, including daily administrative tasks in both the front and backend of the Matilda Centre
- work alongside the University's policies, procedures, and regulations whilst completing ad-hoc tasks as requested by your Reporting Manager

About you
- previous experience in a complex or fast-paced administrative/operational environment
- passionate, innovative, and initiative-driven to improve the administrative and operational experience of relevant internal stakeholders
- strong levels of tenacity, resilience, patience, and problem-solving skills
- friendly and approachable personality with the ability to learn and provide the highest levels of service in a Research Administration space.
- experience or understanding of a tertiary setting, with previous experience in large-scale enterprise systems (highly desirable), or experience with similar systems
- proven experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
