The Role
We are on the lookout for a passionate and experienced R&D Technologist to help deliver our expanding portfolio of exciting new products. This is a full-time, in-house role and can be tailored to the experience level of the right candidate.
You will be a high-performing, action orientated team player with a scientific mind-set, and a passion for developing and delivering great tasting, better-for-you snack foods people will love.
As the R&D Technologist, you will play a vital role in the development of new and existing products to help shape the future Noshu portfolio for domestic and international markets. You will work closely with the existing R&D team, our supply chain team, internal QA and raw material suppliers, to deliver innovative products and cost out initiatives for the business. This role will require a high level of autonomy in the development of experimental plans, completion of bench trials, through to production trials at 3rd party manufacturing facilities.
You will be a passionate and highly organised professional with the ability to work across multiple projects and priorities, with multiple stakeholders. You must be experienced keeping meticulous records with excellent attention to detail, operating methodically and professionally, while demonstrating a high level of organoleptic and sensory ability which is paramount to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Manage NPD projects to ensure they deliver to the company business strategy and timelines
- Work closely with the Head of R&D to create R&D plans, hypothesis, trial plans and formulations for bench-top testing
- Plan and execute experiments for bench-top and factory trials, as well as ensuring successful scale-ups from concept to commercial production
- Working collaboratively with internal teams to drive continuous improvement through cost optimisation and process improvement
- End-to-end product development from concept through to launch
- Liaise with approved suppliers to source new raw materials, obtain samples, PIFs etc
- Coordinate and oversee production trials at 3rd party manufacturing facilities
- Assist in training of co-mans in product process and quality standards through on-site demonstrations and creation of SOP documentation in coordination with our QA Manager.
Qualifications
- Up to 5 years’ experience in product development, R&D or innovation roles in Food and Beverage
- Tertiary qualifications in Food Science and Technology or similar qualification
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office
- Excellent planning ability, with a meticulous attention to detail
- Confident and professional in developing relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders, and external suppliers
- A highly structured and organised working style
- Full working rights in Australia
- A knowledge of sugar reduction technologies is highly desirable, however you will be supported by an experienced FMCG team while you learn the ropes regardless.

A competitive remuneration package is available for the right candidate based on their level of experience.

Head of R&D.
Work Location
Our head office is based in Sydney at The Grounds of Alexandria. Green Square Station is an easy 10 minute walk, or there are close local buses to and from Redfern Station. Occasional interstate travel will be required on a needs basis for visits to our manufacturing and logistics partner sites.
