The opportunity
We are seeking a Research Assistant to join TEVA’s growing speciality R&D, antibody discovery program in Sydney, Australia. You would join the Antibody Generation team in a laboratory-based role focusing on antibody hit identification and optimization.
How you’ll spend your day
This is a hands-on laboratory-based role employing techniques such as
- General molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, DNA purification and analysis, DNA cloning)
- Protein purification
- Development and use of biochemical assays for screening antibody and recombinant protein function (e.g. Biacore -Surface Plasmon Resonance, ELISA, flow cytometry and other immunoassays or screening technologies)
- Culturing and transfection of mammalian cell lines
- Sequence analysis
- Work hand in hand with other teams including those responsible for cell-based assays, protein generation and pre-clinical pharmacology to ensure project goals and timelines are met
- Provide regular updates in the form of presentations to the discovery project team
Your experience and qualifications
- An honours degree in life sciences with an emphasis on molecular biology. Previous experience in research or biopharmaceutical industry roles will be highly regarded
- Experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, DNA purification, cloning, use of molecular biology software)
- Biochemical assay development (e.g. SPR, ELISA)
- Knowledge of immune repertoire and antibody structure/function
- Basic use of spreadsheet software for data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail, good communication, documentation skills and ability to multi-task
- Able to work independently, as well as within a group
